Futuremakers Festival is a community arts project running in the Spring of 2027 that invites residents across Maidstone and the wider Kent area to explore climate action through creativity. The project is hosted by our Operations Manager Zoë Sparkle and new youth volunteer Ciara Cook and kindly funded by Maidstone Borough Council.
This exciting new project works in partnership with Maidstone CAN, Friends of the River Medway and other local organisations, the project will deliver inclusive, accessible workshops where participants will respond to climate themes and local environmental issues through poetry, soundscapes, theatre and textiles.

Then close to Earth Day 2027 we’ll host a free immersive exhibition in the town centre that will be open to all ages celebrating community creativity and collective action.
Alongside developing creative skills, participants will explore practical actions they can take to live more sustainably, connect with local climate initiatives, and build confidence in their ability to create positive change.
We recognise that many people within our community, particularly young people, feel overwhelmed or unsure how to respond to the growing climate crisis. This project provides a supportive and inclusive space to reflect, share concerns, and transform these feelings into creative expression and positive action.
Overall, the project aims to educate, inspire, and connect the community, using arts and culture as a powerful and inclusive way to communicate climate issues and promote hopeful, community-driven responses.
